Vacuum boxes are used to test small, specific
areas of any type of weld. The box is constructed from thick, clear Perspex
with a closed cell foam seal along the bottom edge.
A vacuum gauge and hose coupling is also fitted to the box. A soapy solution
is applied to the seam to be tested.
The vacuum box is then positioned over the seam and a vacuum is induced
inside the box. Any drop in the vacuum or bubble formation on the surface is
a clear indication that the tested weld is faulty.
