Co-extruded AKS offers a number of technical and quality control benefits over standard, single colour product. The co-extrusion process allows the AKS to be extruded with two colours. Typically these are contrasting colours, enabling better QA/QC on site and during installation.
The outer/ exposed surface of the AKS will have the lighter, easily visible colour, while a black or grey colour is kept as the main body of the product. Scratches or damage to the liner are easily detected and marked for repair.
The thickness of this signal layer can be varied according to the project specification or on site requirements. Typically it will be approx. 10% of the sheet thickness.
